The Old Miner's Guest House Bed and Breakfast.

The Gathering Place is unique business located 3 1/2 miles West of Pittsburg, Kansas on Highway 126. The business incorporates primitive antiques along with fresh and dried herbs. Herbs are used in wreaths, candles, soaps, flower arrangements, and other home decorating ideas. Antiques are mixed in with the herbs. We also make antique furniture reproductions featuring early painted furniture. Old lamps are a specialty.

The owners of the business Cathy Stockard,  Gail Deatherage, Jerry Stockard, and Warren Deatherage. All owners have full time jobs, so business is a hobby. Hours are Friday 1-6, Saturday 10-6, Sunday 1-6. Other by appointment.

Herbs are grown and dried on site. All gardens are planted and tended by the owners. Emphasis is upon cooking herbs along with decorative plants for dried flower arrangements.

The Gathering Place occupies a vintage milking barn that was moved to the site in 1995. The owners located the barn two miles south and two miles east during the winter of 1995. The barn was dis-assembled, moved, and re-assembled at it's present location.

Our latest project involves the restoration of a 1900's Miner's house. The house contains two bedrooms, living room, and kitchen. The house was moved to the Gathering Place site and has been totally renovated. Opening was  May  2, 1998. For more information click on the Miner's House page.

Come visit us.  We love to have new people at the shop.  The business was featured in Kansas Magazine, Summer Issue, 1998.   Come visit and stay at the Old Miner's Guest House Bed and Breakfast on the grounds.  We will be happy to direct you to local activities to make your stay enjoyable.
